Not a love song someone else wrote. Yours: the place you met, the year it got hard, the thing you still laugh about, sung in the genre you both play in the car.
A custom anniversary song is an original song written about one couple from their own story: how they met, the years and places since, the things only they know, set to music in the style they like. At BeatJar you type the story, read the lyrics we write from it, hear a preview, and pay only if it is right.
Anniversary gifts have a problem: by the tenth one you have done flowers, dinner, the watch and the weekend away, and none of them said anything. A song does. It puts the actual story, with both your names in it, into three minutes you can play at dinner and again every year after.
Someone typed a few sentences into our form for every song on this page, for a real anniversary. Play one. If you can picture your partner hearing the year you met in a chorus, the rest of the page is for you.
Real anniversary songs, made from real stories
Each one started as a few sentences typed into our form. Press play, then read the story it came from.
He found me even tho I was out of milage range on dating app. We met at Colton's steak house in Harrison AR as I was coming home from taking my daughter to college. Once he stepped out of his truck in his cowboy boots I knew he was the one. I love the way he walked, talked, laughed and how he looked at me. He proposed to me after a few months of dating. He invited our daughters on a camping trip and proposed on one knee in front of a burning fire as we roasted marshmallows with Bethany and Caitlyn watching. I respect him. He is a gentlemen and opens my door for me. He is strong, smart and my strength when I need it. I prayed for him! We travel the world and have great adventures together. He beats me playing cards every once in a while. Looking forward to our future as we plan what is next. Happy 5th wedding anniversary with more to come.
2The lyrics we wrote from it
I remember the day we first met,Colton's Steak House in Harrison, can't forget,I was coming back from dropping Bethany off,And you stepped out in boots that I love.Oh, you found me past the distance on a screen,But cowboy, you were everything I'd dreamed,The way you walked and looked my way,I knew right then, you were meant to stay. With cowboy boots and a gentle smile,You stole my heart and made it worthwhile,
An anniversary is the one occasion where the gift is supposed to be about the relationship, and most gifts are not. They are about the person, or about the budget. A song is the only gift we know of that is about the two of you: it can hold the steak house where you met, the drive from Wisconsin to Arizona, the son you raised together, and the thing you say to each other that nobody else understands.
It also does something a dinner cannot: it lasts. People tell us they play it on the anniversary, then in the car, then at the next one. The research points the same way. According to Aron and his colleagues (2000), couples who share novel, out-of-the-ordinary experiences report higher relationship quality than couples who settle into routine, which is part of what marking the day together is for. Algoe, Gable and Maisel (2010) found that small daily expressions of gratitude between partners predict how connected they feel the next day. And as Janata (2009) documented, familiar music is wired into the same part of the brain that holds our memories. The papers are listed at the bottom of the page.
For a wife
How you met, what she carried, the line you never quite say. The most common anniversary song we make, usually with a male vocal.
For a husband
The boots, the truck, the promise on the first night, the dad he turned out to be. Written from her side, often with a female vocal.
For a milestone
A 10th, 25th, 40th or 50th. Name the number and the decades, and the verses walk through them in order.
For your parents
Their story told by the kids who watched it. The song the whole table goes quiet for at a 40th or 50th anniversary party.
After a hard year
Illness, distance, a rough patch you came out of. A lot of the stories we get say "we have been through tough times". The song can say what came after.

What to put in the story
Anniversary stories are the easiest ones to write, because you already know the plot: where it started, what happened, where you are now. You do not need to be a writer. Three or four specifics carry a whole song: the place you met, a date or a number of years, one habit, one hard thing you got through.
Here are three stories from real anniversary orders, exactly as the customers typed them, punctuation and all. Each became a song you can play on this page.
Husband, 40 years
Celebrating being Married 40 years on April 19th High School athletes to lifelong best friend from Prom senior year the rest is history Loved our many road trips and boondoggles Life has taken us from WI to Ohio to CO to AZ for retirement Always my rock and so love the positive attitude and fun you bring every day to our lives Most amazing, loving husband, fabulous Dad to McKenzie and incredible Grandpa So proud of the life we have built together
Wife, since grade school
We met in grade school. Held hands behind the green thing. Dated all through high school. She hugged me after every football game. Got married after college. We had two great boys, Payne and Storm. We love to travel and watch them play sports. we have five grandchildren now. We love to ride side-by-sides in the mountains. She is my rock her touch put my mind in a quiet place. I wouldn’t want to spend the rest of my life with anyone else.
Wife, 10 years
We grow up in the same community. Her mother is my teacher in fourth grade. God gifted us with a son Anton who is now eight years old. It’s our tenth year anniversary on May twenty fifth
Three very different lengths, one thing in common: places, numbers and names. The third story is three sentences and it became a full song. Write as much or as little as you have.
Which sound fits an anniversary
You pick the genre, the feel and the voice on the order form, and you can change any of them after hearing the preview. In our order records, country is the style most people choose for an anniversary song, ahead of acoustic. If you are unsure, these pairings tend to fit:
For a wife, from her husband: country or R&B, romantic, male vocal. This is the combination most of the songs on this page use.
For a husband, from his wife: country or acoustic, romantic or emotional, female vocal.
For the two of you, to play together: a duet, romantic, in the genre you both listen to.
For a milestone party: a nostalgic feel and a slower tempo, with the decades in order so the room can follow.
For your parents: acoustic or soft rock, emotional. Written by the kids, sung to the couple.
After a hard year: soulful or emotional. Say what you came through and where you are now.
The traditional gifts (paper, tin, silver, ruby, gold) tell you what to buy. They do not tell you what to say. A milestone song does the second part, and it scales: one year gives you a first apartment and a wedding; forty gives you four states, two kids and a grandchild, like the story above.
For a 25th, 40th or 50th the song usually becomes the centrepiece of the party. Someone plays it after the toast, the couple hears the year they met in the first line, and the recording goes out to the relatives who could not come. For a 1st or a 10th it is more often a private gift at dinner.
Tell us the number. Tell us the places and the years that mattered. The verses will walk through them in order.
If the anniversary is this week
That is fine. The story takes about ten minutes to type, the lyrics and the preview come back while you wait, and you choose the delivery window at checkout. The shortest window is an hour.
Do not rush the story, though. The songs that land hardest are the ones with the steak house, the green thing and the fourth-grade teacher in them. Have those ready before you start.

For an anniversary, most people go for a romantic or emotional feel. A duet fits when the song is about the two of you; a solo voice fits when it is one of you speaking to the other.

Wow! What an amazing and powerful song. It is way beyond my expectations and at a price that is hard to believe. This will be the best anniversary gift I ever gave my wife including jewelry. I never thought our journey together could sound so romantic. It got me all choked up when I first heard it. Actually, still does every time. So glad I got the printed lyrics too. Now, it’s killing me to have to wait a week to play it for my wife on our anniversary. There are several companies like Beatjar on the internet, but I can’t imagine any of them could do a better job or be so cooperative every step of the way.
Thanks Erik.

This was an unexpected surprise for my husband. We were just having a good conversation and I asked him if he would he listen to something and then give me his opinion? He said sure. It all happened from there . He wiped tears through the whole song. I am very pleased. I don’t think I could have given him a better 50th anniversary gift. Thank you for helping me with this keepsake! He will always have it to listen to! You’re the best ❤️

The song was for my wife, for our anniversary. I gave them some key elements to include in the song and they nailed it. Her name, how we first got together, how long we've been married and so forth. You get to pick whether you want a male or female singer, what musical genre you want (I went with a female singing in a Country Music style) and they take it from there. As the song is being produced, they'll email you and offer to have your song ready faster for an additional upcharge but that's just good marketing and to be expected. In the end, it was very professional sounding, and it brought huge tears to my wife's eyes.
You can't beat the price and the quality. Just do it !!

I thought the reviews I read were the rare ones that made a big hit … until I shared my song on our 10th anniversary. Tears in 5 seconds. Emotional event that lasted about 30 minutes. He loved it! WE love the song. It’s our song to treasure. Now I’m telling everyone to try it. Priceless gift.

I got the song for my wife because it was our 47th anniversary. We both absolutely love it. We were sitting on the couch when I surprised her by playing it. At first, she was mostly ignoring it; but things started to sound familiar and soon she was really listening closely. She'd just taken a sip of coffee when the song mentioned her name, and she almost choked on it. Then, she couldn't stop crying. Neither could I. The song is wonderful, and we've listened to it over and over again. We shared it on Facebook and have had a whole lot of reactions and comments. Everybody else loves it too! Facebook even sent me a notice that it's been viewed over 100 times. Sounds like our song went viral!! It's so professionally produced that I can't believe it didn't cost way more than it did. I sincerely believe that in 47 years the song is the best Anniversary gift I ever got for my wife. I'll definitely be doing it again some time or another.

Danced with my wife in the living room the first time she heard her song for our anniversary. The tears were flowing. This was a great experience. She wrote this on her social media, “ the most beautiful part isn’t the song itself. It is you thought of me sat down, and turned your love for me into music!

BeatJar was so easy to use and the final result was wonderful. I did a song for my husband for our 26th wedding anniversary. I played it in the car & as soon as he heard a few personal & familiar words he stopped and looked at me & his expression was priceless. I would definitely do it again.

A Heartfelt Recommendation for Beat Jar
I highly recommend Beat Jar to anyone looking for something truly special and personal for an important occasion.
My wife and I are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, and I wanted to give her something meaningful that captured our story and our life together. After doing a tremendous amount of research on companies that create personalized songs, I chose Beat Jar. From the beginning, I felt that they were the right company for us.
What really impressed me was how professional and accommodating they were throughout the entire process. I chose Soft Rock, Anniversary, and Romantic as the styles and themes, and I provided Beat Jar with lots of information about my wife, our relationship, and our life together. They took all of that information and turned it into a beautiful song with personalized lyrics. It was really unbelievable.
The song was awesome. In fact, when my four daughters heard it before our anniversary it brought them to tears. I can't wait to give it to my wife on Friday night for our anniversary.
I also want to emphasize something that was extremely important to me: Beat Jar takes care of you.
I initially had a difficult time understanding exactly how the process worked. I didn't know what to expect or how everything came together. But I trusted Erik at Beat Jar, and he fulfilled my every wish. He and the Beat Jar team walked me through the process, answered my questions, listened to my ideas, and made sure I understood everything. They were willing to work with me until I was happy, and that gave me tremendous peace of mind.
I even made a few changes to the lyrics so they would better match our own story. Beat Jar welcomed my input and made the experience feel like a collaboration rather than simply ordering a product.
They also offer features that made the experience even better, including rush service, digital downloads, unlimited revisions, and completely personalized songs. Whether you are celebrating an anniversary, birthday, wedding, or another special occasion, they have different musical styles and options to help make the song fit your situation.
I have done the research for you. I looked at many companies before choosing Beat Jar, and I am so glad I did.
If you are considering a personalized song for someone special, I definitely recommend Beat Jar. They are professional, patient, creative, and genuinely committed to making sure you are happy. Most importantly, they will take care of you.
For my 50th wedding anniversary, Beat Jar helped me create something I know my wife and family will remember for the rest of our lives.
I highly recommend Beat Jar. They are the best!

I wasn’t sure at first, how my husband would react. We got into the car, i started to play it and turned the volume up. The first few lyrics it made him think and realized that the song was about us. All those feelings we felt back then came to life again. My husband said “ it was the best gift ever”.

The song I chose for our 30th wedding anniversary to my husband was just amazing. It was delivered in 24hrs as expected. It told our story like I wanted and included words that were so romantic. My husband’s face said it all. It bought a tear to his eye. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a heartfelt song for their loved ones.

I wanted more input regarding the lyrics. On the third revision it felt like the song actually came from me. My wife was moved to tears. I printed the lyrics which are framed and proudly displayed. I was concerned the end result may be too "hokey", but it ended up being one of the best anniversary gifts over our 47 years. Thanks!

I gave my thoughts of my wife of 50 years. God sent me a guardian angel in 1976 and she has cared for me in sickness and health. Beat Jar captured my thoughts and a perfect country song that caused her “eyes and heart to overflow with tears”. I am a 1000 miles away so was unable to see it but she told me. Fantastic service.

Questions people ask about anniversary songs
What should an anniversary song be about?
The two of you, specifically. How you met, a place, a number of years, something you got through, the thing you say to each other. The stories behind the songs on this page run from three sentences to ten. The more specific the details, the more the song sounds like you.
Can it be for my husband, from me?
Yes. Most of the anniversary songs we make are written by one partner for the other. Tell us who is speaking and who is listening, then choose the voice that fits: a female vocal if the song is sung from her side, a male vocal from his.
Can it be for my parents' anniversary?
Yes. Tell us their story the way you saw it growing up. They suit a 40th or 50th anniversary party, and an acoustic or soft rock treatment with an emotional feel fits them.
Can I hear it before I pay?
Yes. You read the full lyrics and hear a preview of your song before paying anything. If it is not right, change it or walk away.
Which genre should I pick?
Whatever you two actually listen to. For anniversaries, country is chosen most, then acoustic, and the most common feel is romantic. You can change the genre after hearing the preview.
Can we use it as our song, or at a vow renewal?
Yes. It is yours to keep as an MP3 and play wherever you like: dinner, a party, a vow renewal, the car. If you want a version for a specific moment, tell us and we can shape the feel to it.
How long is it?
A full song with verses, a chorus and a bridge, usually two to three minutes. Not a jingle.
What does it cost?
From US$37.95. The price depends only on how fast you want it delivered, and you see it before you pay.
