Both turn a few answers into a song. They differ in what you see before paying and in what the refund promise says.

- You are happy to check the price and terms at checkout first
JoyBox vs BeatJar: which should you pick?
Pick BeatJar if you want the price, every lyric and the start of your song before you pay. Pick JoyBox if you want a greeting card, a scheduled reveal or a genre such as Reggae. BeatJar starts at US$37.95 with the MP3 included, and you hear the first 45 seconds of your real song before paying. No price shows before the email step, and the terms say prices appear at checkout. A "100% money-back guarantee" on its homepage clashes with a refund page that says all sales are final. BeatJar gives a refund or remake for real errors within 48 hours of delivery. With 14 occasions and 13 genres, JoyBox wins on choice. Clarity goes to BeatJar: one price, one refund rule and an included MP3. We read JoyBox's own pages on 18 October 2026 and placed no order.

How does JoyBox work?
You answer eight short steps. They ask who the song is for, a first name, the occasion and a genre. Choose among 14 occasions (Birthday, Retirement and 12 more) and 13 genres (Country, Reggae and 11 more). The voice is yours to set: male, female or "Surprise Me". Next come what makes the person special, favorite memories and a personal note. JoyBox advises "at least 20-30 words" per answer.
The last step asks for your email and an optional phone number for texts. Optional fields let you set a name pronunciation, an exact title and lines the song must use. Our walk-through ended at the email step, and we paid nothing.
What JoyBox's own pages say
Quoted from their pages on 18 October 2026.
Price
"Prices are displayed at checkout before payment."
What it means: Expect a price only once you reach checkout.
Homepage promise
"100% money-back guarantee"
What it means: Up front, JoyBox promises your money back.
Refund policy
"All Sales Are Final ... No refunds, cancellations, or revisions are available once an order is placed, except where required by applicable law."
What it means: The refund policy rules out the refunds and revisions that the homepage offers.
Delivery
"Delivery windows shown at checkout are estimates, not guarantees"
What it means: Any delivery time at checkout is a guess, not a promise.
AI disclosure
"Joybox uses AI and your inputs to create lyrics and music in a guided flow."
What it means: JoyBox says AI writes the lyrics and music.
What should a buyer take from those pages?
Funnel, homepage and guides all skip the price, so we state none. One guide warns buyers to check add-ons and "any recurring billing".
Timing varies by page. A badge says "Ready in 1hr", the FAQ says "about 3 minutes" and the funnel summary says "within days".
Refunds are the biggest gap. Money back and "Revisions included" top the homepage; the refund page rules both out. Over "a verified production defect", the terms allow a remedy, but only "in our discretion", such as a re-render, replacement or account credit.
The song lands in your inbox as a private listen link, and the pages never say whether you can download a file. The privacy policy also lists AI providers for lyrics, music, voice and greeting-card images. S1 Media Ventures LLC runs JoyBox under California law.
And how do you get a song from BeatJar?
You type the story. We write the lyrics and show them to you. Then we play the first 45 seconds of your song before you pay anything. Change any lyric line before we record the song, or walk away.
When it is right, you pay from US$37.95 and the MP3 is included. Download it, share it with family, play it at the party. After delivery, revisions stay free. Choose the delivery window at checkout. A real error gets a refund or remake within 48 hours of delivery. 30,800+ songs have gone out this way, rated 4.9 on Trustpilot from 1,050+ reviews.
Read every lyric and hear the start of your song. It costs nothing until you like it.

What its own pages leave open
Trustpilot has no page for joybox.studio, so there are no customer complaints to count. These are the points its homepage, funnel and terms raise, paraphrased.
Policy conflict
The homepage says "100% money-back guarantee"; the refund page says "All Sales Are Final" and rules out refunds, cancellations and revisions.
At BeatJar: you pay after the preview, and a refund or remake for real errors is available within 48 hours of delivery under our terms.
Policy conflict
Homepage copy promises "Revisions included" and says you can regenerate until it feels right; yet orders are not "eligible for cancellation, refund, or revision" in the legal text.
At BeatJar: revisions stay free after delivery, and you can change any lyric line before we record the song.
Price
Eight funnel steps show no price; the email address comes first and "Checkout opens next".
At BeatJar: the price is on the page: from US$37.95, MP3 included, paid after the preview.
Delivery
Three delivery times on their own pages: "Ready in 1hr", "about 3 minutes" and "within days". Checkout windows are, in its words, "estimates, not guarantees".
At BeatJar: you choose the window at checkout: Express about an hour, standard within 24 hours.
Download
Email delivers the song as a private listen link, and the pages never say whether you can download a file.
At BeatJar: the MP3 is included.
Disputes
Disputes go to binding arbitration under California law, with a class action waiver.
At BeatJar: our refund and remake rule is plain: real errors, within 48 hours of delivery.
What does JoyBox do better?
Choice is where JoyBox leads. It lists 14 occasions and 13 genres, including Worship, Reggaeton and Reggae, plus Roast and Missing You songs. It sells optional greeting cards and lets you schedule delivery for a chosen day. Friends and family can add memories before JoyBox writes the song.
Fields in the funnel cover name pronunciation, an exact title and lines the song must use. Payment takes Apple Pay, Google Pay, cards and Stripe Link. JoyBox claims "150,000+ custom songs" on its homepage. The Meta Ad Library showed 210 active JoyBox ads on 18 October 2026, and 153 of them began in the last 30 days. Want a card with the song, or a scheduled reveal? JoyBox has it built in.
Which checks come before you order?
- Get the price first. None shows before the email step, so know the total, add-ons and any recurring billing before you pay.
- Screenshot the refund promise. Homepage and refund page disagree, so decide which one you rely on.
- Ask what file you get. JoyBox offers a private listen link; BeatJar includes the MP3.
- Pin down the date. One hour, three minutes or "within days" all appear on different JoyBox pages, while BeatJar lets you choose the window.
- Confirm which Joybox you mean. joybox.studio is not joybox.com or joybox.de, which are separate Trustpilot listings.
Hear your song, then keep it
