Songer vs BeatJar: an honest comparison

These are two different products under one search. Songer is a tool you operate: type a prompt, get a track, spend a credit to unlock it. BeatJar is a service: you tell us about a person, we write their song, and you hear the whole thing before paying from US$37.95.

What you hear at BeatJar before paying: the whole song

Who each one is for

The honest answer is that most people searching "Songer review" and most people searching for a gift song want different things. Decide which one you are.

Pick BeatJar if

  • You want a song about a person, written from your story, without operating a tool
  • You want to read the lyrics and hear the whole song before paying anything
  • You want revisions handled for you, free, until it sounds right
  • You want one price shown before you start, not after a signup
  • You want the MP3 delivered and done, with nothing recurring behind it

Pick Songer if

  • You want to make many songs yourself and enjoy prompting and tweaking
  • You write your own lyrics and want them set to AI music cheaply
  • You want background tracks for videos rather than a gift about someone
  • You are happy previewing half a track before deciding to unlock it
  • A subscription with monthly credits fits how often you create

How Songer works

You type an idea, a theme or your own lyrics, pick a genre, and Songer generates two AI versions of a track. You can hear half of each for free, and you can make up to 100 of these previews without spending anything. To hear a whole song, download it or share it, you spend a credit. Credits come from one-off bundles that never expire, or from the Songer Max subscription, which grants 60 credits a month that reset at each renewal. The plan prices themselves appear only after you create an account; the one public number is the "$1.19" per song on their ad landing page.

It is genuinely a different product from a gift song service. There is no order form, no brief about a person, and nobody writing for you. If you enjoy making things and want volume, that model has real appeal. If you want one song about your wife with your story in it, you are the operator, the editor and the quality control.

The fine print worth reading

Their terms say "All purchases are non-refundable", while their help centre offers refunds for exactly two defects: a song with an incomplete ending, or an audio glitch. Cancelling the Max subscription stops future billing at the end of the paid term and removes whatever monthly credits remain. On ownership, the marketing says "it's yours"; the contract grants "a license to use such content for both personal and commercial purposes" and adds "We reserve all rights not expressly granted". Lyrics you wrote yourself stay yours. None of this is unusual for a software subscription; all of it is worth knowing before treating it like a purchase.

How BeatJar works

You type a few sentences about a person. We write the lyrics from them, you read every line, you hear the whole song, and you pay from US$37.95 only if it is right. Revisions are free, the price is on the page before you start, the MP3 is yours to keep, and nothing recurs afterwards.

One real customer song, played in full before they paid a cent.

What Songer customers complain about

Themes from one- and two-star Trustpilot reviews, paraphrased. Songer replies to nearly all of them, usually explaining a feature or pointing to support. Worth noting alongside: Songer offers 10 free credits for leaving a Trustpilot review, which it discloses on its own help centre.

The song cuts off in the middle and the fix tool did not fix it.

At BeatJar: The most common complaint, and one of the two defects their help centre accepts for a refund. At BeatJar you hear the complete song before paying, so an ending problem is caught before money moves.

I emailed support for weeks and only got marketing emails back.

At BeatJar: Reviewers report long support silences. BeatJar support is a person on email, and the preview means most problems are fixed before purchase, not argued about after.

I could not find how to cancel, and my card kept being charged.

At BeatJar: Max has an in-account cancel button per their help centre, but the friction reports are frequent. BeatJar has nothing to cancel: you pay once, after hearing the song.

The free preview is just a fragment; the best part is the sample.

At BeatJar: The preview is 50% by design, up to 90% on the paid tier. The whole song, before payment, is the BeatJar mechanism.

It rewrote my lyrics and dropped half of them.

At BeatJar: Their default mode may alter user lyrics; exact-lyrics control sits on upgraded plans. At BeatJar you approve the exact lyrics before the song exists.

What Songer does better, fairly

Volume and price. If you want ten silly songs for a group chat, background tracks for videos, or you simply like making music with prompts, a credit system at roughly a dollar a song beats any made-for-you service, BeatJar included. Extend is free and unlimited on unlocked songs. Lyrics you write remain yours, including commercially. And their support team answers nearly every negative review in public, which most companies in this category do not bother doing.

Before you order from either

Decide what the thing is for. A track you generated is a fun artifact; a song written about someone, with their name and your shared history in the verses, is a gift. If it is a gift, judge any service by one test: how much of the finished song do you get to hear before your card is charged, and what happens if a line is wrong. Apply that test to BeatJar too.

Questions people ask

Is Songer legit?
Yes. Songer (run by Liveteq LLC) is a real AI music platform rated 4.8 on Trustpilot from 2,665 reviews, and it replies to most negative ones. Two things to know first: plan prices appear only after signup, and it offers 10 free credits for leaving a Trustpilot review, which it discloses itself. The commonest complaints are songs cutting off early and slow email support.
Is Songer a subscription?
Partly. You can buy one-off credit bundles that never expire, or subscribe to Songer Max, which bills monthly, quarterly or twice-yearly and grants 60 credits a month that reset at each renewal. Cancelling stops future billing at the end of the term and removes unused monthly credits.
Do you hear the song before paying on Songer?
Half of it. Free users preview 50% of a track, Max subscribers up to 90%; the full song requires spending a credit. At BeatJar you hear the entire song and read every lyric before paying.
Is Songer the same as SongR or Songly?
No. This page is about songer.co only. songr.ai and songlystudios.com are different companies with different products and policies.
What does BeatJar cost next to Songer?
Songer is cheaper per track: its ads say $1.19 a song, and it is a make-it-yourself tool. BeatJar is from US$37.95 for a song written about your person from your story, heard in full before you pay, with free revisions and the MP3 yours to keep.
