Where a custom song fits in a wedding day

A wedding has four or five moments that need a song and most of them get a song from the radio. The first dance is the obvious one, but the walk down the aisle, the parents' toast, the reception playlist and the morning-of gift from the groom or the bride are all places where a song about the actual couple lands harder than a hit. Several of the songs on this page were written for exactly one of those moments.

And it outlasts the day. The couple keeps the song, plays it on anniversaries, and the relatives who could not come get sent the recording. The research points the same way. According to Garcia-Rada, Sezer and Norton (2019), couples who share a ritual they both find meaningful report feeling closer, more committed and more grateful than couples without one, and a song written from your own story becomes exactly that kind of ritual. And, as Janata (2009) documented, familiar music is wired into the part of the brain that holds our memories, which is why a first-dance song with your names in it still works on the tenth anniversary. I wanted a special song for my wedding... a first dance song. I liked the first song... but my partner was not a fan. I decided to tell them. They sent another... I wasn't a fan of the next song.. too sappy, too slow, too long... and not only did they fix it... they sent 2 more versions and they were PERFECT. Upbeat, romantic, fun. I love them SO much.
